Beaconsfield Villas, Brighton

The Project

A villa property such as this, held as a complete unit, needed to be specially enhanced in order to preserve the building. Internally, however, there was vast change required in and around all of the retained historic features. While there was an extensive renovation, the design to the rear (both internal & external) set the means to have a bit of fun with the property. The result was a modern open plan kitchen/dining space which seamlessly connected the main house to the garden.

Design Challenge

The internal finishes provided the real entertainment to the design. The client had a great sense of the materials, aesthetic and the finish they wished to import into the design. Ideas and designs were explored throughout for every possibility in both texture and materiality. The external gabion walls and the alignment to the internal brickwork were precision set, with the exposed steelwork offering a great supporting industrial look to the polished concrete floor.
